How to Use Cat Litter?
Kumi Cat is designed to keep daily litter care simple and clean. With a few small habits, you’ll get the strongest clumps, the least dust, and the freshest box for your cat.
Getting Started
- Start clean. Wash and fully dry the box, then make your first fill — a dry box helps initial clumps set firmly.
- Fill to the right depth. Spread Kumi Cat about 5–7 cm deep. This gives clumps space to form firmly without reaching the bottom of the box.
- Choose a calm spot. Place the box in a quiet, low-traffic, easily accessible corner, away from food and water bowls.
- Give your cat time. Most cats adapt quickly to the fine, soft granules. For the first few days, keep the box and routine consistent.

Daily Care
Scoop solid clumps and waste at least once daily. Because Kumi Cat clumps tightly, the clump lifts out in one piece, leaving clean granules in the box — so you replenish less often, and one bag lasts longer. After cleaning, add fresh litter to maintain a depth of 5–7 cm.
Freshening the Box
Despite daily cleaning, you’ll occasionally need to empty the box entirely — about every two to four weeks, more frequently if multiple cats share. Wash the box with warm water and mild soap, dry it completely, then refill to 5–7 cm. A dry box always clumps best.
Switching from Another Litter
Cats notice abrupt changes. To transition, mix Kumi Cat with your current litter and shift the balance over about a week — a little more Kumi Cat each day, until the box is entirely Kumi Cat. A gradual transition maintains your cat’s comfort and routine.
Which Kumi Cat?
Every variety features strong-clumping, fine-grained natural bentonite and a 99.5% dust-free formula. For sensitive cats and homes, choose Natural (unscented) or Activated Carbon, which traps odors at their source. If you prefer a light, fresh scent, try Lavender, Sakura, Marseille Soap, or Baby Powder.

Do
- Keep the box and litter dry — clumping happens upon contact with moisture.
- Store the bag in a cool, dry place, sealed when not in use.
- Maintain a regular cleaning routine; cats love a predictable, clean box.
Don’t
- Flush clumps or used litter down the toilet. Bentonite swells with water and can clog pipes and septic systems — dispose of it in the trash.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much litter should I use?
Fill about 5–7 cm deep and top up to maintain this depth after each cleaning. Too little, and clumps stick to the bottom; too much, and litter is wasted.
How often should I clean and fully change?
Scoop solid clumps at least once daily. Perform a full empty, wash, and refill every two to four weeks — more frequently if multiple cats share.
Can I flush used litter?
No. Clumping bentonite swells with water and can clog plumbing and septic systems. Dispose of clumps and used litter in household trash.
Is Kumi Cat suitable for kittens and sensitive cats?
Natural (unscented) and Activated Carbon are the gentlest options for sensitive cats. Very young kittens sometimes ingest litter; until they outgrow this (around 3–4 months old), many vets recommend a non-clumping litter. For all other cats, Kumi Cat’s strong clumping is ideal.
How much dust does it create?
Kumi Cat uses a 99.5% dust-free formula, resulting in minimal dust when pouring and a cleaner area around the litter box.
How does it control odor?
Tight clumping rapidly traps moisture. The Activated Carbon variety captures and neutralizes odor at its source; scented varieties add a light, clean freshness.
